The Problem

The problems began when the other company failed to arrive on site at key
dates for first fixing, despite assurances, this trend continued. They had started
to install a door entry system, CCTV system, automatic gates and alarm sys-
tems, but due to they' r e lack of attendance and organisation it was discovered
that they had failed to cable for intercom handsets to the apartments.
Dave Wood explains: " W hen we were informed of this we obviously passed the
buck back to them. The best solution they could come up with was a system that
dialled the tenant ' s mobile phone. "

Mc Donald Wood had been using another local electronic security
company in the earlier stages of the development. " They hadn ' t

The Client

McDonald Wood Construction Ltd. is a
Cheshire based company specialising in
high specification building, renovation and
refurbishment projects in the North West.
The company ' s most recent project was

a multi million pound conversion of a Grade II listed building into a
development of eight luxury apartments.

The Solution

With regards to the
other company ' s
door entry system, Connelly Security advised the client of the ongoing costs that would be in-
curred for dedicated line rental, call charges and reprogramming costs when tenants move in or
out or change their number. Instead, we recommended, designed and installed a system that
utilises the existing phone lines to each apartment and never incurs any costs.
" T he system will pay for itself by the time there ' s a tenant in each apartment, based on the
other company ' s charge for programming a phone number in the system that they recom-
mended to us. " explains Dave Wood.
Connelly Security also installed three high specification day/night cameras to cover the entrance
and grounds, one of which utilises a wireless link to overcome another cabling problem. We also
upgraded three of the existing cameras and installed two more in bespoke high quality housings
designed to compliment the door entry panels

The Outcome

McDonald Wood now has complete site security that matches the high class of the apartment
complex. The only ongoing costs are for system maintenance visits, making the whole project
cost efficient for the client.
